The importance of realistic expectations
If you expect too much, students will become demotivated. On the other hand, if you expect too little, students might want to rest on their laurels before they have even earned them.
In three months’ time students can learn to understand or give instructions, answer the phone, write or understand a simple email and socialise in Dutch or English.
If they need to learn to negotiate and attend meetings, of course they will need more time.
